Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith took to Twitter on Monday to issue a plea as her husband John Playfair, 76, has been unable to leave their bedroom for the best part of a week as he recovers from an operation.
Prue, 83, informed her 75k followers that John’s stair lift has broken down and the company have not been to repair it.
She tweeted: “For six days my husband has been stuck in the bedroom upstairs because, post op, he can’t do stairs and the @CibesLiftUK lift has broken down.
“@CibesLiftUK say they’ll come tomorrow, a promise they first made five days ago. So much for four-hour response!”

The chef’s post was inundated with comments from sympathetic users, including one named Peanut who said: “This is maddening! I’m sorry for you and for him.”
Bazil added: “I sincerely hope they sort it out asap, Prue. @CibesLiftUK are very WELL aware of the essential nature of their products AND what it means for people if they’re not working. So, this is a very poor service indeed from them.”
While Christine echoed: “This is not good.”
Express.co.uk has contacted Cibes Lift for comment.
Prue and retired fashion designer John married in 2016 but lived in separate homes for many years.
In 2020, they sold their homes and bought one together in Gloucestershire, where they both live.
She previously shared her sadness about letting go of her old manor house which she purchased back in the 1970s with her first husband Rayne Kruger.
Rayne died from emphysema in 2002 and his ashes are scattered in the land’s lake.
Writing for MailOnline, mother-of-two shared: “Our new house is totally different, and planning this is a great antidote to keening over the loss of the old one.
“I think the lake and garden are what I will miss most on leaving. Rayne’s ashes are in the water, scattered after his death in 2002, and I’m rather sorry mine now won’t be.”
Prue and Rayne shared two children, Conservative politician Danny Kruger and adopted daughter Li-Da.
